May is Sexual Violence Prevention Month in Canada, and this year the CKSACC is proud to be a part of a series of events.

The CKSACC is holding a symbolic funeral procession and memorial for the women and children lost to femicide. Femicide is a gender-based killing of a woman, child, trans woman, 2-Spirited Person, or gender non-conforming individual where a man has been charged in relation to the death. These killings are most often committed by an intimate partner or family member who have a history of violence. Since November 2021, there have been 177 confirmed femicides just in Ontario. This event is being held in honour of the women and children who we’ve lost, and of those still fighting.

If you or someone you know can participate as a driver in our procession, please register here: Registration Form Set-up will begin at 325 Grand Ave. E., Chatham at 10am, with the procession to begin at 11am. Even if you cannot participate as a driver, please join us for a gathering at the Chatham Courthouse (425 Grand Ave. W.) after the procession.
